I am able to get all the pieces I need cut to make a 39g sump (36x14x18) that's 3/8" thick for my 110g FOWLR DT right around $300. I'm figuring less than $50 for additional tools/supplies. I did a basic design in excel and saved as a pdf (attached). This is a list of the pieces:

I don't understand the acrylic sump thing. Why not just use a 40b (or whatever standard tank fits your dimensions) and cut (or get someone else to cut) some glass baffles and silicone them in? You could have the same sump for <$100.

Is it just about weight? Fear of silicone? Help me understand! :)

My sump cost me about $60 (including having the glass baffles cut). Got a 40 breeder, and 2 10's for $25 total.

It's all about space plus the need to drill for a bulkhead. 40g breeder is ideal size, but too wide My max width is 14". 29 gallon tank is too small how the dimensions are. A lot of it goes to height on that tank.
