Sump Dilema

my 55g only has 12 3/16" width inside and I can't get either a 15g I have or a 20l to fit as there width with the plastic rim measures 12 1/2 " any suggestions as to what I can do?

I am going to be putting a PM Bullet1 skimmer in there so don't think a 10g tank will suffice

I have given that thought but want to get this in place next weekend and am already stretching my tank budget with what I have bought and am picking up from people at Fridays meeting

until you rebiuld your budget you might want to check and see if a rubbermaid container will work (if you can find the right size)

Won't a 20g High fit in there? I think they are 20"w x 16"h x 12". I used to have a 20g XTall from AGA that was 20"w x20"h x10 but that might be too high for the stand.

All-Glass also makes a 15g High that is 20"w x18"h x10" They are all the footprint of a 10g but taller.

You should be able to get one of them in there. If you really wanted to get creative you could plumb 2 tanks together with bulkheads and have 2x 15 highs in the stand.

the 15L we have is 24x12x12 the problem with tank measurements is that does not include the plastic rim on them and adds 5/16'

The 15g High has a front to back measurement of only 10" and the 20 XTall is the same footprint. They just increase the height. That should give you at least 1.5" extra clearance.

All-glass removed their dimensions page but I found this one that has some measurements.
