Sump light

If your return pump is adequately sized, there should be no need for added flow in your sump/refugium.

Just to be sure on this. Any of these bulbs work because they have a high K number? I know when I get to lowes I will get confused with all the bulbs. I am looking for a 5000-6000k bulb? Is that all that matters? I have a "corkscrew" like bulb now and have had zero cheato growth in 3 years. So obviously what I have is not working.

My local lowes did not have the exact light I posted in the above link. I also noticed a substantial growth increase when switching out my 2 year old light I had previously. Going forward I plan on switching the relatively inexpensive bulb every 8-12 months.

About 2 weeks ago I bought a new corkscrew bulb for my sump. It said daylight on the package. It was less than 6500k, I think 5000k. This was the first time I changed the bulb in 3 years. My chaeto has never grown even though I have high phosphates and nitrates in the tank, so I figured this was a reason. Anyways, the rocks in the sump and the sides of the glass is now covered in red. I run the sump light on an opposite cycle of the tank light. I am guessing this is cyano. Did I get a wrong bulb? Suggestions?
