Sump Makeover

Hey all,
After almost 8 years, I finally got rid on my "ghetto" (at least what some people have called it) rubbermaid sump. I converted an old acrylic tank into sump. Since it was the first time working with acrylic, I was pretty proud of my results. ..thought I'd like to share..

Is that the tank you got from me? Damn looks nice!!!!

Sam

Hey Sam,
Thanks, it's not..I've got other plans for your tank. This was a 4 foot 50/55 gallon show tank (I think).

Wheres the return pump??

The bulkhead for the external pump is on the end of the sump behind the fuge. The pump is behind the ca and kalk reactors.
Here's a shot with the reactors removed.

Hey glaudds, is that a euro-reef skimmer you have there?
Actually it's the euro-reef knockoff that jeff's exotic fish sells....
It's the 6-2 version with the sedra 5000 pump.

I think that skimmer is on sale right now at www.exoticfish.com for $230? You can upgrade to the needle wheel for another $30?

Rich
Actually that price is for the 6-1 skimmer. The 6-2, which is taller, currently costs $325. I think I paid $275 over a year ago.

nice job! it would look better if that ucla rug wasnt there.....
Hey...no bruin haters in this thread!!:D

Very nicely done and very experienced to me. If you didn't mention that this is your first time working with acrylic, I wouldn't have known.

I've checked exoticfish.com and the price for the CS6-2 is $399. Where do you guys see it for $325? Also, it says that it is backorder. Are they currently available at jeff's exotic if I go there?

The $325 is for Jeff's Pro skimmer...the euroreef knockoff. I think your're looking at his euroreef prices.

Thanks Sohal....I found that with any DIY, the success depends alot on the tools you have available.

I see, got it. How is that skimmer compared to the euro-reef?
