sump move progress..

Ok well I decided I wouldn't chance the weatherstripping and ordered 2 tubes of dap aquariam sealent.
I also took a drive and picked up some new r/o filters and long hose and im in the process of re-filling the tank yet again ( this time the correct way). Dap will be here wed, and ill be resealing the baffles.

Im hoping all goes well and no more set backs :)

Dap came in today / baffles finished. And tank is close to half full. Picked up 200 gallon salt mix and hope to have it full and to temp and salinity by monday :)

what NOT to use: Learned this the hard way :(

Equalize the water in each chamber to ensure a balance of water pressure. This will ensure the pressure is equal/the dap will hold. Also, use the large amount of water in that 55 to fill the remainder of the tank to establish the bioload needed for the "new" tank. This will get everything going before you put the fish in...EX: the more old water (in the 55) you can use..the less shocking for the livestock that currently live in the 55 GAL.

Really? I thought water held no bacteria? I was going to keep the 55 going for a ref.

Photo bucket is annoying me today!!!!

Oh sorry I created 2 posts. The reason I moved everything was so I could take advantage of the fish room better. I have this nice size room with a bunch of floor space but I was cramped with the actual sump. I was sick of crawling under my tank and bumping my head just to do something like change a filter sock! Plus I could never get mt skimmer to fit right in the sump because of the over head plumbing " again cramped" and I figured id be stuck with this skimmer if I didn't get (sump move) in mind.Besides that I was always dripping water from my hands onto my power outlets every time I moved a coral or cleaned the tank ughhh scary.

So we talked about a sump move and started planning
where I messed up was when I typed into the forum " fish safe silicone"
The response was ge window and doors#1 not #2 just make sure it said 100% silicone!
well the above was not true I should have read ge window and doors #1 100% silicone
with a caution to not use any with mold/ mildew resistant.
this is what I did as u see from the pic of the tube :( had to tear all my old baffles outremove all the bad silicone and good because the old was under that toxic stuff. I had just made 200 gallons if saltwater and added that to display( had to be dumped) because I didn't find out the silicone was toxic for almost 2 days of the tank running.
I knew something was wrong when my sump filled with foamy white stuff.
that's when I went back and looked up my silicone and found it to be toxic!

Sorry that was so long " wanted to save u from going back through my posts.
I seen I had a typo. When searching it didn't say #1 or #2 infact I was surprised they had 2 window and doors silicone by ge.

Anyhow sump is done I have about 3 more inches of water to go after the sump and I should be able to start the pumps ( fingers crossed ) the Dap holds my baffles lol

my god,i would 've had a meltdown.are u attempting this task by yourself?well i hope it turn's out all good 4 u.by the way have u ever gone to sw store called saltwater paradise,in tonawanda,ny?

It'll never be "done" Shawna. It's a work in progress. Everything's looking fine. I wish I had a room behind my tank like you do. You will come to appreciate it more than you can imagine in years to come.

I have 2 rock stacks and I have all the rest of the rock in the sump with the intension of doing a 3rd to even it out but the tangs are loving the open space:fish2: :) ill have to see.
all I need to do now is find some puddy for the one pillar and try to enjoy the tank for a bit :)

(Middle) column ummmmmmmmmm please don't mind the zip ties haha I went a little zip crazy to hold it temp until I got the puddy I needed. This is not the correct position it will be either I'm going to turn it on the side to where it is sitting stable and flush and try to make it look like an arch when done :) We'll see? lol
