i just purchased a prizm pro 300g skimmer.now i have a 75g mixed reef tank and a 30g sump.i had decided i didnt need a skimmer so didnt make a chamber for one in my sump.so my sump is just a simple 2 stage sump.1 stage full of macro and the other the return.the water comes in through a spray bar in the macro section(obviously).here is my question.i guess i could make a small shelf about 4 inches above the sand and set it on that in sump.or just hang on the side?does this skimmer work better in sump?

You may not like this response. Feel free to disregard.

If you purchased new, consider returning it. While I have no owned that one, I have owned other low-end skimmers. Never seem to work right. You could do much better for close to the same money.

If you purchased used, hang it off the side of the sump & give it a shot. Skimmers generally take a few days/weeks to break in, so give it time.

no i didnt buy it new it was used and i only paid 82$ for it.figured you couldnt get any better for 80 bucks.i have read mixed reviews.some say its great and others not so.guess it depends on the one you get and what your looking for.
im not looking for a miracle just something to ease the nitrate pressure of a mixed reef.my nitrate is reading 0.but my tank is 1 1/2 years old and i still find myself doing weekly water changes to keep nitrates under 10.im sure this will work some people just gotta have the best.hell wasnt long ago they wernt around.
will be sure to post pics and review what i think befor long.
