sump or refugium???

Looking to add a sump or refugium to my 48 Gallon bow
and get ride of my fulval canister, and just run canister for carbon
Cant decide which is the better of the two....sump or refugium.
Any recommendations would be help full
Anyone with a used sump or refugium for sell please let me know

Do both. Not so much a refugium but a sump and an algae scrubber. Have part of your sump sectioned off to grow macro algae and another section for a extra DSP and live rock as well as storage for others toys, like carbon or heaters.

I have a sump that would fit the bill if your intrested. Or you could even make something out of thick plastic storage bins. Meijers are selling 42g bins for $15.

Use both. Section off your sump with a fuge area..

I have a 46 bow and I have a 20 long sump that Rod built me. I am running an ASM G-2 skimmer in it and he built a decent size refugium in it before the water is returned to the tank.

Puffer's sump couldnt get much better for the setup that I was suggesting.

Pufferpunk's refugium looks great for your size tank. For mine, I just took a 20 gallon and siliconed pieces from a 10 gallon to create a sump. (its mainly a refugium, but the return pump space is large enough to hold extra equipment)
