Sump pictures!

Ok, So I am prepping to build out my 180g. It is coming with the tank (drilled) Stand and canopy along with a 75 gal sump and a nice skimmer. I am also installing 3 container dosing system and I'm sure ATO and a automated WC (which I haven't figured out how to do that one yet).

so... with that lets see some pictures of yall's (I'm from Alabama lol) sumps!

It's hard to get a good pic but the first one is my 20 l sump that is on my 40b dt. The other pics are my 40b sump on my 150dt.

Give me just a second and I will post a picture of mine, but mine is inside of my garage so I'm not sure if it will be much help?

I am using a 75 gallon sump and I am running two skimmers, but this is because I also have a 60 gallon frag tank tied to the system. I'm using a reeflow gold return and it has to be turned halfway down.

Ignore that there is no skimmate, I just cleaned them. I also have a calcium reactor hooked up but it is underneath my frag tank.

Start with some kind of 'liner' in your stand. Plastic sheet is cheap, PVC shower liner is better, I did this one with 3/8" PVC sheet. It protects the stand from drips, splashes, salt creep and overflows.

The ultimate protection of your home is to install a drain in the liner and run it out of the house. This only needs to work ONE time and it will prove to be well worth the time and expense. This is the bulkhead that goes to drain my liner.

Here is my finished system. I used gate valves as ball valves tend to get very 'stiff' over time in a saltwater system (IMHO) and I wanted finer control. The 2 far right valves feed my chiller which is outside in the backyard and a 50g display refugium which is on a stand next to the 125g DT.

If you want to see and read more, there is a link to my build thread in my signature below. If you have questions, please ask or feel free to PM me.

Good luck.

That is a very clean setup Ron. Geez. I hope a few tanks down the road I can get it tight like that. Mine is just a jumble of crap thrown in where it will fit. :-)

Thanks. I guess this is my 4th start from scratch on a new system, But I've also redone a couple when I made a single tank system into a two tank system with a single sump. This time the 2nd tank is a display refugium because the CADlight sump just wasn't big enough (even though it's way bigger than the Red Sea system with the same 125g DT).

BTW, I think most of us see our own design as being trashy and a jumble of pipe. I like mine OK, and it works well, but I have a couple of friends who have plumbing that make mine look... well, you know what I mean.
