Sump/plumbing show off!

A lot of thought, time and money goes into out display tank. It makes sense, that's what everyone will look at, right?

However, all of us that work on our tanks have to deal with our sump area/space, and at least in my case, if it's not organized or of easy access it bothers me tremendously...

I have always done my plumbing in a very simplistic way (because I didn't know better)
However, now that I'm setting up another tank, I want to baby it out all the way.
Show off worthy!!! ;-)

I have looked at some threads, as well as some videos online and I did find a few designs and ideas I liked, however I couldn't think of a better place to look for inspiration and ideas than Reef Central.

I am planning on PVC pipe all the way, and I'm planning on building a manifold-like section where I will add some barbed fittings to allow me to connect reactors if I ever need them, connect some tubbing for easy water changes, etc...

So, if you took your time (and money) to design/create a show off worthy sump bring it on! I really want to see it.

Pics are worth a thousand words.... ;-)

I am sure there are several pictures of neat plumbing usually in other threads at Large Reef Tanks forum but I dunno if some of those members are still around or they don't pay attention to this thread.

If no one posts pics here, then I have some pics that I copied from RC in the past and they are stored in my PC but I don't know if it's okay that I post other members' pics here.

Very clean zeebies!
Really nice!

I'm planning on setting up my plumbing using the orange PVC pipe for BRS.
Also, if possible ($$$) I would like to get a colorful sump so everything glows in there ;-)

Bah humbug. Pipe here, pipe there, some tape on that one, some paste here, my fingers are glued together, here put this plywood over that so nobody sees it.

There is method to some of our madness

I've seen first builds that didn't use any glue on the pvc so you already have one leg up on the competition ;).

I have done that too... Lol.

Regardless tho, this time I want to have it show off worthy. I want to open the doors and be fascinated by my sump area.

I understand that to some of the people, or even the majority, this will sound silly and a waste of money but I like to do things that way.

Also, it's a breeze to do anything you need to do, when you need it done.

That's why I love this hobby so much. It's very personal, and each one does things their own way.

Sure, why not pimped-out?

I have been playing around with it for a while. It would look cool under a black light inside the stand. It's just one of my big dreams.

Very interesting concept.

Have you ever looked into synergy reef systems?

Something very cool that I have been looking at...
Why would they have to be closed until January/February now!??? ;)

Thanks. Yeah, after I made the drawings, I found out that Synergy makes fluorescent sumps but only in one color. I would want a sump very colorful like this so it can be a work of art, even though it can be very expensive. LOL

Sump/plumbing show off!

Isn't Art a very expensive hobby as well??? ;)

I'm not sure, but I think they can custom make a sump in whichever color you want.

It's is indeed very cool to have a sump made out of different colors.

I'm fairly handy. If I had a garage I would attempt to built one myself. However, I have no room nor equipment to attempt a built like that.

If anybody out there has the room and skills.... (Hint, hint) ;)
