Sump Question

Fireworm - Any luck with the maintance guy at work? I planned on calling Meyer Plastics early this week, but the wife has been keeping me busy and the friend making my stand is moving rather slowly anyways.

Alright, just let me know what you find out. Are you also having him cut acrylic for your sump?

No, mine already has it in there.

he said tonight would be the best time for him to work on it. I go in at 7 tonight. I will post what I got after that.

I would go with the Meyer Plastics. This guy is screwing with me for some reason. Sorry about the delay. I thought I could help you out with the plastic, just not this time I guess.

Well, I would definitely not recommend Meyer Plastics to anyone. I called them up last Friday and asked them for a quote to cut three baffles for me. I sent them all the dimensions and answered all the questions they had. It is now Tuesday and I haven't even gotten a quote yet. This is even after sending e-mails twice to stress that I have to have this completed this week.

I am now in the process of looking for an alternative. I refuse to go with a company with such poor customer service. Anyone have any other recommendations?

Gondore- Did you check out lowes or home depot? They sell 2'x4' sheets.

Actually I contacted Meyer Plastics headquarters and filed a complaint. They contacted me back almost immediately and had several questions regarding my customer service. It appears the individual that took my quote information was new and somewhat inexperienced. I ended up speaking with her boss and we got everything straightened out. They are going to cut four pieces for me, one with teeth, for around $40.

I picked up the pieces from Meyer Plastic today and they look great! I had them use black acrylic for the fug compartment so it will help contain the light from the other parts of the sump. I siliconed one of them in tonight (first time using silicon) and I guess it's not as easy as it looks. I think it will come out alright though.

Looks good! What do you have planned for each compartment?

Middle compartment is the return section, compartment with the bubble trap is for the skimmer, and the section with the black acrylic baffle is for the fug. I will be splitting the water from the overflow so most goes to the protein skimmer and some goes to the fug. They both then flow to the return compartment in the middle.

did you get your stand back yet? I got mine this past week and have to finish the paint on teh inside. I hope to have the 90 up and running by the middle of june at the latest. If anyone wants a good deal on an entertainment center I have one that I need to get rid of....
