Sump Questions

Does anyone know how big of a hole to make if I was building my own sump and I want a piece of acrylic where I can drop in a 4" filter sock? I know its just a bit smaller than 4", but I dont know the exact size to have it sitting on the lip of the plastic ring of the sock

Also, I want to implement a frag section in my sump. The LED lights I have need to be 12" off the water. Will that cause bad stuff to grow in the other chambers the lights shine on or does it not matter?

I don't know the measurement, but I suggest that you have the equipment in hand before making holes. Less likely to get blindsided by complications that way.
