Sump recommendations

I need to get a sump for my 75 gallon tank. It is the standard aqueon size, I think 48,18,20. My stand has about an inch less in width and depth and is 32 inches tall. I would like to have a large refugium area. What size tank should I use and how should I divide it up. My requirements are a fuge that is as big as possible, a skimmer area that raises the water almost to the top of the sump( I have a HOB skimmer so I just need to make a small area higher, and an area for an in sump return.

Is there a center divider in your stand? Like a brace between your 2 front doors? In my experience that center brace, if not removable, will effect how large of a sump you can fit into your stand. Only because the brace effects how you have to install the sump. You may have room for a let's say 36" long sump but if you have a center brace that isn't removable then something like 24" long sump will only fit due to how you have to articulate the sump to get it into the stand (measurements I posted aren't exact, just examples)

Unless you have side entrance into your stand. I don't know if you have a factory aquenon stand or a custom built.

It is a custom stand with no center brace so plenty of room.

That's good. I figured I'd ask just to clear that question up. I'd fit the biggest tank you could into the stand. Something that isn't too tall, to make adding/removing equipment from the sump easier. Maybe something like a 40 breeder as a custom sump. And just baffle it to your needs

I want a 40 breeder but I think it is a tad wide.

Might have to go with a 30 gallon tank. Or get an acrylic one made to fit your stand perfectly

A trigger 36 sump should fit nicely into your stand. And has a nice sized fuge in it

Do a search. There was a used one for sale not too long ago. Can't remember if it was on the Tampa Bay forum or the national forum

I can never find the national fourm. It looks like a 38 gallon wouldn't be bad if I can find one.

That's weird you don't have access to the for sale national forums. Maybe there is someone you can contact to get that fixed

Not really sure who that would be but it would be great.

You need to have a certain post count before you have access to the for sale posts. I think it's 50 or something.

I have a glass 29 gallon from petco under my 90. Only 2 baffles first section is about 11 inches for overflow and skimmer. Refugium in the middle and about 6 inches for the return pump. I don't use a bubble trap so more room for the refugium.
