sump/return pump question

I am setting up a 180...perfecto with dual overflows....I have a 75 gallon tank for my sump..It is drilled at one end with a 2 in bulkhead. I was going to cap it off and made baffles for a sump setup like this skimmer>return/top off<refugium...and use a mag 24 for my return, but I have been doing some research and want to get away from my Mag return pumps and have access to a sweetwater she 1.7 return pump...my predicament now since it is already drilled in the one end...can I run PVC from the bulkhead through the refurium , over the baffle, and down to the bottom of the return section?..what are some of the other options I have?..redo my baffles and run it skimmer>refugium>return/top off but that will make the flow through the refugium too heavy right?...refugium>skimmer>return/top off with the drains being regulated into the refugium part to get the desired flow through refugium and the rest of the drain to the skimmer section?....any help is appreciated

forgot to mention....this is also a common sump for my 40 gallon breed so I will be splitting the output 3 ways...dont know if it matters much......Thanks again

I like the flow to be drain/skimmer -> fuge -> return/topoff. The flow wont be too much if you dont use too large a return pump.

ok....the she 1.7 from sweetwater (aquatic eco) has a flow of 2700 gph @ 5 ft of head ...I will be splitting 3 ways ...2 going to the 180 and 1 going to the 40 gal breeder/frag tank...I will split all returns with the dual lock line into the aquarium.....sound ok?..or?...

Thats a lot of return flow.

Your perfecto can only handle 1200 GPH.... Unless you turn the Two return lines into drains, and widen the slots on your overflow boxes, then it might handle 2400 gph.

The usual suggestion is to only run 3-5x the tank volume through the sump.

You should use a closed loop or powerheads to give you the flow you need in the tanks.
