Sump Setup

Hello
I've kept a salt tank for over 7 years now, no sump.
I've now upgraded to Aqua One Cube 275 litres, 6
months ago.
Feeling like I've a renewed love for it all over again
but feel like I need some help with getting my sump
right and functioning to the best of its ability.
Is there some basics on lighting minimum ect.
I've placed some sand in front section with live rock
and weed, Bio Balls will be removed on weekend and
I've been advised to just put my protein skimmer in that
Section once balls are gone and that's it.
Do I need Carbon somehow, someway in my sump ?
I feel like a Learner all over again

You don't need carbon but it can help. Lighting your sump isn't needed unless you are growing some algae for nutrient export. Just keep your sump clean and your skimmer running well.
