Sump/Skimmer flow questions

My display is 195 gal. My sump is 100 gal and will have a 50-100 gal refugium plumbed in line flowing through retuning to the display. The sump is remote and I’d like to plumb the skimmer in line using gravity to feed. My question is, is there any reason to run any more water through the sump than is necessary to feed the skimmer? Also, how do you figure the amount of water to feed the skimmer? I have a GEO and it didn’t come with any guidelines.

Thanks

Your best bet is to call GEO and find out what flow is recommended for your particular model. Otherwise, the only reasons I can think of to have additional flow are added oxygenation and insuring that the temps are stable between the display, the sump and the fuge. All of which would be of minimal importance.
