I just finished my 1st sump today. I wanted to know if this is a safe water level for my sump or should i add more. I also included the max water level when the return pump is off. what do you think.

Ur return pump section doesn't need to be that high. You will want to put your ATO switch in this section, so from a practical stand point you could lower it quite a bit. An inch above vortexing your return pump is fine.

nice job on that bubble trap btw. silicone job looks very clean. mine looked horrible....lol

I dont have a ATO yet, so wouldn't it running it 1" above the vortex cause me to fill it up with ro/di more often to prevent it from running dry. I just want to be safe, cause this is my first sump and i dont want to run dry my pump or overflood my main tank if my overflow box fails, even though i got a lifereef box. Thanks

i think your next immediate purchase should be an ATO switch, rig a reservoir.
You can do this for under a hundred bux, all in. and it cuts down on the huge aggravation factor of manually topping off and it makes your system more stable/consistent.

ive been using the same switch/setup for 5+ years...ive had it on four different tanks...keeps on a ticking.

yes, you could run it higher in the interim.
