sump

Can anyone recommend a local place to buy a sump at a reasonable price? And a place that carries them as I wanted to get one today. I don't want to start building one even though I know it is cheaper. I would like one that has a built in refugium.

I was doing some research online and one popular one that most online retialers sell is the MegaFlow which I read is very loud. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

thanks

Aquahut is always fair on pricing. Also I know Pets Warehouse has them in stock, or did 2 weeks ago.

I have a My Reef Creations sump which I had purchased from Reef Exotics who is local in West Hempstead. I have seen the same sump in use at Mutts N Butts in Merrick on Merrick Road they use it on their frag tank. I'm very happy with mine. Quality is excellent. I don't think that Tony does business on Sundays, but give him a call suring the week. He's a member of the club. His # is 516-414-0950 reefexotic.com. Another option is the Champion lighting who stocks My Reef Creations and Eco Systems another good quality sump . Champion Lighting is mail order out of Pennsylvania. I have a 75 gal tank undrilled , tank only that I want to get rid of for $30 if you change your mind and want to build one.

The mega flow setup is more of a wet dry filter than a sump. When you remove the bio-balls the water has to drop a good distance and thats the reason for the noise.

After looking at prices of sumps sold in LFS's, you could get a custom made acrylic sump to your specs from someone like www.myreefcreations.com

I laugh at the prices of these "sumps" sold locally. They are basically 30 gallon tanks with a couple of baffle for $300+!

thanks I tried to call pets warehouse to ask and twice they left me on hold 5 min the first time and 7 the 2nd time. They lost out on a nice sale.

I went to that aquarium place in Carle Place. Real nice place but man are they over priced on livestock. $12.99 # for live rock.

I did get a sump set up and pump. I paid a little more than getting it on-line, but the gave me 25% off for joining the clup($6 for the year) and They help me big time. They basiclly set it up for me in the store and I had to plug in. So many people there to help you I guess thats why the prices are crazy. I was limited to the size sump because my doors only open 24 inches. I found a sump for a 125 gallon tank and will be plugging it in soon.
