Sun Burned Aptasia...

I have some rocks in a holding tank that have some aptasia's on it. I don't want to have to Juice the rock, neither do I want the rock in the display tank.

So....what if I toss the rocks in outside in the sun and let them dry out. There will be some "sun burned" aptasias on the rocks still. Once the rock is introduced back to saltwater, will the aptasia remnants, somehow, come back to life? I wouldn't think, but stranger things have happened in this hobby.

You're gonna kill the rock doing that. Better to zap the aiptasias. If you go the other route, you'll need to thoroughly dry out that rock inside and out or the aiptasias will come back. Nasty buggers.

Highlander microwaved his rocks and literally cooked them. Smelled I bet. Don't let a spouse or SO catch you doing that!

True on the rock death. I deemed it a necessary sacrifice. Microwave....Hmmmm......sounds like I'm taking some rocks to work!...:smokin: ...did I say that out loud?

How big are these pieces of rock? I may be able to have them clean by my copperband in no time.

U wanna get them off the rock........POWER WASH IT !

Lol, just kidding.
Get a butterfly, peppermints, bergia nudi. Big Angels, that depends what corals U keep.

Power washing.....sweet! The good part is the rocks weren't in the display tank and in their seperate container for observation. Thanks for the help!
