Sun Coral Feeding

Hi! We have had our sun coral now for about 3 months and it doing well, except for the fact that since we have to target feed him throughout the week (2-3 times) it really affects our phosphates. I've heard the mthod of placing a container over to feed but our tank is too small to fit anything over it. Any suggestions on how we can do this? Does it stress the coral to take it out in a separate dish for feedings? Thanks for any input!

Be forewarned - I do not have sun coral so I'm giving advice that I heard elsewhere.

Anyway, the best idea when it came to suncoral feeding that I've heard is to incorporate your water changes with the feeding. Basically, you feed your suncoral out of the tank and replace the water you used with your "water change" water.

For examle, if you want to do a 10% weekly water change on your 29g and you feed your suncoral 3x/wk, get a tupperware and take out 1 gal of water with your suncoral. Feed it in the tupperware out of your tank. Put the suncoral back in. Discard the old water. Replace with your water-change water.

That way the 2 biggest hassles of your tank are taken care of at the same time.

I've had mine for awhile and target feed them mysis straight into the tank...I havent had any problems...knock on wood. Also 2 or 3 times a week I spread some cyclopeez into the tank...IMO, I dont think thats a good method--removing them from the tank for every meal--again IMO. Although I did try it for the first month I bought my suns, but it did get old...

Ya, that's why I've never had sun coral. To much of a hassle if you want to keep your tank parameters pristine. They are beautiful coral though
