Sun coral questions

I've had my sun coral for several days now and it opened up 10 minutes after I put it in. The only issue I had was that the suncoral never closes. Ever. It's been like this for the past three days. I have been feeding it daily with mysis/Modified Brine shrimp. Is this normal?

Also if anyone knows about sponges, how often must they be fed and with what? Thanks.

I got it online via a guy on Aquabid. I think he still has a couple more frags. Good seller though. I" think he is "TheReef" on there

Suns will sometimes stay open for a few days & stay closed for a few days. It seems they have their cycles...probably based on their nutritional needs & processes. Not a problem. It sounds like yours is healthy. You may want to feed it only during the times when you're home & can observe it. You may be able to train it to open on you schedule with the lights on instead of in the middle of the night.

Most Sponges feed on dissolved organic matter & other vey small organic particles. They also filter feed on bacteria. There are sponge foods manufactured by Zeo, TLF & others.

Ok I just bought a sun coral today and I fed and it closed up for like a minute and came back open. Am I suppose to feed it again? Or just leave it alone.

it should be fine

it should be fine

The sun coral will keep itself open as long as there is food. Don't over feed I feed mine four times a week. Week something else in the water zooplankton and phytoplankton for it to feed on as well

what is the condition of your sun coral - is there good tissue health. (post a pic showing the tissue between polyps) if there are signs of tissue recession - I would feed it daily until you start getting tissue growth again.
