Sun Corals or Dendros?

Not sure what these are? I have a small sun coral colony that looks really different from these. Colors are different too. The sun corals come out around 9-10 pm, but these are generally always out.

anyone?

I have both in my tank. Suncorals body stays pink. And my dentros body gets encrusted with purple coraline. I'll take a pic tomorrow

Better examples of what I'm talking about suncoral body all pink

Dentro base body not all pink like your example. But hey I could be wrong:)

well... it looks like tubastreas alright. They look starved, thus exposing the skeletal structure. Do the ' P.E. Mysis 101' treatment to the coral asap, and within a few weeks you should be able to save a good portion. My two yens

They all eat alot so definitely not starved. The guy I bought the colony from said they stayed open all the time too. Could it just be that thyley ve been fed so much they want to be open a lot?

I'd say so. I feed my dentros all the time, after they eat they are open even bigger then before feeding.

i likem if they stay out all the time you got some cool ones there.mine only came out with smell of food and looked crappy when closed wich was most the time so i got rid of them and the nitrates they produced also.lol

Yeah this is very true. As soon as you feed them they get much bigger. I target feed with Cyclop-eeze and they seem to really like that. I also do mysis maybe every other week. Maybe they'll get big enough to eat silversides ;)

Here are my other corals to contrast. Each tube here is maybe four times the length of the ones in the OP.

Branching Suncoral, spot feed and they will stay open most of the day. It's like training a baby to walk!

I actually stuck my old suncoral group to these (same area in the tank/ rock) and now they all stay open all of the time!

I believe that is sun coral.. My dendros tentacles are much lighter and have white tips. I usually try to feed mine pe mysis and cyclopeeze every other day.. Ive read that dendros usually stay open more than suncorals..
