Sun Polyps spawning ???

Since I pretty much live with my face plastered to my tank these days, I get to notice some amazingly cool stuff (like photographing snails laying eggs)... An advantantage to being self employed and working from home

About an hour ago, I noticed tmy Sun Polyps were doing something bizarre, and upon closer inspection, it appears they may have been openly spawning or releasing clones. I immediately put a call into Eric Borneman, but was only able to leave a voice message, so hopefully I hear back from him about this.

In the meantime, I obviously took pictures.

In this first image, you'll see tiny teardrop shaped particles (in the white circles)that very closely resemble bird seed. The polyps would pulse a couple of times, then appear to literally shoot these things out. They would then drift back down and appear to stick to whatever they landed on. Nearly every polyp did this at least once, with some of the largest expelling 2 or even 3 of these "seeds".

This is immediately afterwards, as the polyps were all returning to normal.

I think they are called planuller (sp) larvea. Its not spawning as such, but the release of cloned larvea. When they settle they will develop into a single polyp and grow from there. My sun did this many times but the shrimp would eat the polyps, I have a few still growing in my external filter.
