Sun Powered Reef

Hello MLalex,

concerning your question about the Solatube...

here are some links to pictures from his webpage where you can see the tank and also the Solatube above it...

The whole story (in German) about the enlargement of the house and the building of the tank you can find here:

Wow, I'm proud of what the people in my home land, Switzerland, are putting together. That's a hell of tank, I would turn that think into an acro forest in no time :D

Hello Marc, Tom,

indeed a great tank (now also filled up and with corals - will be a "forest" soon).
Tom - its about 960g or 3600L
but in total he has 60 tanks (he raises also fish and has a small store).

and @Lalex: the entire room overhead the tank is covered - so you cannot see the Solatube now from "outside".

Markus

Markus, is this tank just south of Basel, in Basel-land? Just did a Google search - I grew up in Basel and visited last year. I would have emailed the owner but I didn't see that option on the site. I'd love to see more recent pictures, but it seems to stop in April 07.

I would like to see more as well.

Marc - Your from Switzerland as well? I grew up in Zurich and my grandfather's business was based in Basel. Small world.

Hello Marc and Tom,

yes exactly Marc...:D
I think he will do an update as soon as he has time (but as he also opened his shop recently...)
You can see that all on the website.
I was at the opening there at the beginning of July and made some pics as well, but I do not have them on this PC..
Here is another Link about the opening.

Markus

Same here. My grandfather's business was Bauglas AG, dealing with glass & mirrors.

Thanks for the additional link Markus.

Sorry for wandering off topic, Vitor.

That is truly exceptionel, im loving it :D....
It looks so natural and peaceful, wish it was possible in Denmark lol...

How do you feed your fish? Just take of the lit a put it down?

Tank of the mounth

Hi.

That is correct, i just take of the lit off and put the food down, very easy.

In the future i'm thinking in adapting a hole in the lit for the feeding time, this way i don´t have to take the lit off.
