Sunbrite F Series LED light fixture

most of these were taken at sunrise/sunset..... at midday peak period it looks white/blue (normal)

I did see your other pictures and the colors looked more normal. :)

Are you seeing any coverage issues being that all the lights are clustered into small areas? Shadowing, not enough light at front back/edges? Any "disco ball" effects?

No disco ball effects...a nice even blend.... right now there are a few shadows around back corner areas but keep in mind that Im slowly acclimating the tank to this light.... so when I am able to ramp up intensity Im thinking the higher light output will light up those areas better

Does anybody elses control box fan do this? it ramps up about every 20 seconds for about 8 seconds at a time ?

Thanks for being the guinea on this one signal_4 :)

I am looking forward to further updates from you as this is on my shortlist...with a bit of hope that it edges out the competition.

I am between a 48" sunbrite, 6x54w ATI sunpower with some sort of blue LED supplement, and 2 120w Maxspect Razors.

Hi All,
I am finally ready to put up my FSeriesV2. I was wondering if anyone can give me a quick sanity check on my starting point. Much appreciated.

Blue - 35%
Purple - 35%
White - 25%
Red - 20%
Green - 20%
UV - 10 %

My plan is to increase by 5% every two weeks. A slow and steady approach.

Thanks

Sunbrite F Series run with ANDROID???

Hi, is anyone using the Sunbrite F series LED lights with an android device to program them? I haven't been able to get my tablet to work right, but my daughters iphone works fine. Anyone been successful so far? Thank you!

I purchased the 48" f1 about 6months ago and have to say I couldn't be happier! It is a great light and build construction is simple yet amazing. I like the water proofing that they put into this fixture and as far as heat goes, you would have to be running it in an enclosed enclosure at 100% power to consider it hot to the touch...which I couldn't see doing, some ventilation would be suggested for ANY light setup. Heck my kessil a150 gets hotter than this light. I am currently running the lights at 80% blues 50% red/green/uv and 38% peak white. I previously had the whites on at 60% peak and bleached a lot of coral, 38% is plenty for my 120 full sps system. I have had a lot of good growth out of my SPS in the upper half of the tank and zoas love it on the sand bed. I have found a few corals that did not like the led lighting but not many, a few random sps and zoas. I will try to get some pictures later. The one thing I am considering is raising the lights in a canopy higher than the legs offered for better spread, it is slightly pinpointed to the middle front to back wise on a 24" wide tank.

So we had a really bad storm the other night which knocked out the power for about 3.5 hrs. I remember on the 1st series that there was an issue with the lights not coming back on the correct timer cycle and starting out at 100 %. Im happy to say that once the power did come back on my light went straight to the correct timer setting and percentage. I do have the timer on a complete 24 hr cycle.

hi signal. how is the F V2 going? I have had some problems w mine. Too much light maybe,,,, has bleached out many of my corals. I have since moved from the brackets mounted on the top of my tank to a hanging kit 13 inches above the water line. I am hoping this will help, but I haven't seen a difference yet. Even my soft corals aren't coming out anymore. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah the lights are very strong on the v2's... I have my strongest ones(whites and blues) turned only up to about 70%(I had 90% on v1's). I had both the v1 and v2 and i actually liked the v1 better... v1 had a better spread and less shadows.... i see more shadows around my acros with the v2's because they are more of just a downward light... when i had the red led's turned up on my v1's you couldn't tell because they were spread out and the color blended in. With the v2's, you see red spotlights because the light is so concentrated on shooting straight down and not spread out... Good thing about the v2's is that they save more energy...

bimmer88, thanks for the reply. I am at a loss with this and any help is greatly appreciated. Right now I have blues and purples at 30% and white, red, green and uv at around 10%. I have hung the fixture 13 inches above the water line. Its been 3 weeks at these levels, but I am not seeing any progress. Thanks.

Hi.. I had to move mine higher than what the brackets provided as well because of the shadows.... I have slowly acclimated my corals... my blues, purples, and uv ramp up to 100 % and the whites are at 70 %. I keep the greens off and the reds at around 30-40 %.
So far everything is doing great with the light and Im getting great growth and color....

I am having an issue with my light though.... for some reason the back row of blue leds in the right 3 modules have stopped working which has slightly created an off balance look to half of the tank. I have contacted Jon and hes working on figuring out the issue.

hmmm... that worries me a bit... i had the same issue with my v1's... 1 row of blue led's went out on one half of the fixture... then more and more started going out on the same half.... only the blue ones... John switched me over to the v2's, which i'm running right now. He said that everything that controls the lights are now in the ballast with the v2's. Has he tried switching a ballast out for you?

I installed my F series V2 back in Feb of this year. I used the brackets legs that came with it, and it was installed on top of my tank. I started out with the lights at about 30% and slowly increased them to about 50% over a 3 month period. Everything looked great until a month ago as many of my coral had bleached.

I have since purchased the hanging kit and it’s been a month hanging 13 inches above the water line. I have the red, green, white and UV at around 15% and the blue and purple about 40%. My corals aren’t looking good and even my clams look bad now when they were ok this whole time.

I have bought a couple of coral frags recently, a small blue acro and a yellow flower pot and both have receded and bleached, they were placed on the bottom sand bed.

My water parms are stable:

If anyone has any experience with the V2 light, can you tell me if I have the lights to low or too high? At this point I wish I would have kept my t5's or had purchased the V1.

Thanks.
