Sunbrite F Series LED light fixture

There isn't a way to tell where the light is dying the dimming process. However, you time frame will tell you what timmer the light is currently on.

Hey guys. I'm pretty sure I'm going to order this fixture but a few things first. How have your corals responded to theme? Good growth? Also, my tank is a 125 6' tank but I'm thinking I can get the 60" and still have plenty of light. What are your thoughts?

Hi: I have a 125+ 60 inch tank with the 60 inch fixture. Corals have responded well to the transition from T-5. There is alot of light on the side panels of the tanks so the 60 inch fixture should work well on a 72 inch tank (just the stands won't work so you will need to find another way to mount the unit. Also short power outages cause the unit to not send the wireless signal. Just unplug, count to 10 and plug it back in and it will start up correct and not lose your programmed timer.

Thanks Larry. We did wind up ordering the 60" and hopefully we shouldn't have any issues with it. I can't imagine that we will if it has as much power as advertised. We also wound up getting the hanging kit from Sunbrite. I'm extremely excited about these and can't wait to hook em up.

I have an extra 48 inch version of this light for sale......$750.00 + shipping. Send me a PM if interested (I bought two and found that one was enough).

Sunbrite F Series Reviews

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone who has owned this fixture since it came out, I think in April, could give us a honest review.
Thanks!

I sent you a PM in response to you asking the same question in your PM to me. I what I sent you on the PM yesterday just in case you didn't get it there.

I would recommend the light for those that have good ventilation for the light. There are no fans on this fixture and therefore the heatsink gets very hot at 100% light on all channels. Not good for LED life. If you are hanging above a tank and not putting it in a canopy it should be fine....just not ideal. If you put it in a canopy you will need to put a fan in the canopy and make sure that it is blowing on the heatsink and there is an exhaust for the canopy. Other than that this is a great light. The color spectrum of the light is good and the iphone app is finally something that is usable. I don't like that they implemented the WiFi as an adhoc connection. This means that you cannot control or monitor the light across the internet. I travel a lot and that is a requirement for me. Unfortunately all of these light manufacturers are taking the easy way out and not implementing true network connectivity. Aqua-Illumination is doing this, but that is just being reported. I don't know if it is true. The light did very good with my SPS and LPS and I can honestly say that I would rate it an 8 out of 10.

Thank you for your feedback and it is much appreciated! Do you have a concern over the life of the LEDs, wether they are cooled in the canopy or using the supplied brackets, in this fixture given the heat issue?

Interesting issue you have with the network connectivity. I do travel once a month, but I dont see a need to adjust my lighting at that time. Why would you? Also the issue around the fixture not holding its light configuration after a power outage is that incorrect?

I have been seaching the web for reviews on this fixture and they are sparse. Thanks again for yours.

I have had the light above my tank now for a month. Great light. The programming is easy and the interface to your iPad, iPhone or Android device is easy to install and use. My SPS seem to be doing fine with this light but I believe it is too soon to know about growth.

Only problem I had was finding the user manual on line (see my earlier post) and my light levels keep returning to 100% after being set up. I'm supposing this problem is something I am doing wrong and I need to speak to SunBrite to resolve.

Thanks SaltNutz!
Good information regarding the manual! Are you experiencing any issues with heat sink getting very hot? I dont know alot about LEDs, but I do know that the heat will end their life rather quickly.

How did you acclimate your corals to the LEDS? Did you start at 60% and work your way up each week? How do you know when you shouldnt go any higher? This is one of my biggest concerns. I appreciate your response!

I had a tank crash just before installing the SunBrite so I didn't have too much trouble with accumation. Although I still have some corals in my frag tank that has a 250MH above it. I have too pieces that I cannot seem to color up but it may Ben just placement and patience.

The heat sink does get hot but I don't notice it as it hangs in free air in my garage. My tank is an in wall tank with only one side facing inside the house. All the business end of the tank is in my garage. I have noticed that I use much less make up water as expected than I use to.

So how hot are we talking about ? Like a metal halide hot or just warm to the touch like an led tv ? My tank is open top. So do the owners of this fixture feel like most of the issues ( ex power failure restart at 100 %) from the first time of the release have been resolved yet or is there still more work to be done ? Also is beside the thundering/lightning effect has anybody been able to mimic clouds passing over ? I see that the Iphone app still isnt back in app store yet. Thinking about getting the 72" one when I get back from vacation as Ive accepted that as long as my wife has air in her lungs Im not getting a Vertex Illumina and this seems like the next best one as a all in one stand alone fixture. Thx

It will burn the underside of your forearm if you touch it. This is at 100% power on all channels and inside of a canopy that has not ventilation. A canopy with ventilation or hanging it outside in moving air makes it acceptable. It will get warm to the touch, but only at the 100% levels.
