i just picked one of theses guys up. She is awesome! I have her in QT and I have attempted to feed her. She fed on a couple pieces of Mysis. Anyone w/ any experience on getting these species to eat good?

I have 4 and they all ate within a day or so. I feed frozen and cylopeze. They are a beautiful fish and a pleasure to keep. I haven't had any issues with mine.
My male is always out in the water column. The others are visible but hang out around the rocks.

i had a couple for about 2yrs. lovely fish, kinda secretive but very very pretty. mine only ate mysis for months then started taking flakes. gluck, and post some pictures of the beauty.

mine will only take in mysis, and only 2 pieces...i'm lucky if it eats more. how long till they start hitting the food aggressively?

That is what mine is doing right now. SHe only took about 4 small pieces and thats it. I hope her appetite will build up.

i think they're pretty picky w/which mysis they eat as well. Only eating the whole one's that dont look destroyed.

have you tried live brine. just try to get the fish some calories.

I came home from lunch and she was DOA. Man, Can you say $45 down the toilet. I didn't have her 24 hrs. That sucks.

I dripped acclimated her for 2 hrs. There is a McCosker wrasse in the tank w/ her. I know the McCosker didn't help the matter. When I first introduced the Fathead, the McCosker pestered her a bit. I feed them and the fathead ate a few pieces. I turned off the lights so the McCosker would go into hiding. The next morning the Fathead was in the bowl of sand swimming around. The McCosker was still hiding.
First the MCcosker pestered him but after a few minutes he left the fat head alone.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I added a sunburst about a month ago. Very timid fish and hard to get started eating. Would only eat mysis in the beginning and then cyclopse. Even got it eating freeze dried krill. It is a very picky eater. Beautiful fish. Grew considerably since it started eating. I also have a bunch of wrasses in the same tank. No one seems to bother her.

I am trying my hand at another one. My LFS had one that is actually eating. They said she was in their tanks for about a month. Also, it was 28 bucks. I had to get her. I floated her bag in my tank for about 25 minutes while I set up the QT tank last night at midnight. I finally started to drip her about 1230 and dripped acclimate for about 5 hours. Waking up every 45 minutes to drain water and check on her. I finally got her into QT around 6 am this morning. She is really shy, and when I fed her she ate. Mixture of PE MYSIS, Hikari MYSYIS, and Hikari Spirlunia Brine shrimp. That is a plus. I am keeping my fingers crossed. If anyone has any advice on keeping this awesome fish please post some replies.

DAY 2
6:45am tried to feed her mysis, brine shrimp and cyclopleeze. none seem to work.
I will try to feed her again around lunch.
Anyone w/ experience getting them to eat please chime w/ some advice.
Should I wait a another day before I try to feed her again?

You don't want to over do it and foul the water. Are you taking out the uneaten food? Is it the only thing in the qt? Give it some time. Mine went through a few phases of not eating. May just need to get used to the new surroundings.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just stick with it. It may take a few days for it to start eating again. Did you set up your QT with water from the display?

Yes. I put 7 gallons from my display and 3 gallons fresh saltwater. I plan on doing a 1 gallon water change everyday.

I am taking out the noneaten stuff.

I have a clown goby in there as well

She is swimming around more today. I think I will leave the tank lights off for a few days. I will only turn them on when I feed.
Good luck and keep us posted.
