I have decided from this point on to relegate the plannings of all future meetings to Igosalt.

She will gather ideas, themes and ideas from this point on.

Remember to register with her or you will not be eligible for door prize drawings which will be at the end of the swap.<b>

Contact her with your ideas, suggestions, and Demos.

WE NEED A DOOR GREETER
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Schedule:

I may be demoing a home made wave device if we can get it up and running.

I also have a promotional CD intro finished for the CVRC so it can be played prior to the meeting phase.

Brian will be doing an over flow demo

Lana will show you how to set up a tank

Im sure Phil will enlighten us with something
<b>
Remember if you are bringing frags, bring your own table (Limit one 8 ft table per person please.)</b>

So it looks like we are go.

Special thanks to Brian and Lana for volunteering.

<h3>
There will also be some of the rarest coral frags ever seen in this area available for the first time at this one.
</h3>

Thanks to Barry for the donations, someone will be going home with two Koralia #4s. We are also going to have a few other mystery door prizes and many chances to win for everyone.

We will also be giving out several coral as prizes.

<h3>
REMEMBER You can only win if you are there, so make your plans now, it will be worth it!

The show is go, lets have some fun :thumbsup:

If we are going to do this group buy I'd like to get suggestion in some manner for places to do the buy from and possibly pick a site and get it started.

IMO the group buy is something that should be worked out here on line, some of the key players will not be there for the discussion phase Im sure and it would be wrong for a select few to make decisions that effect so many potential buyers.

We have far more things that need taken care of Sunday such as food, registration, logistics, drinks, demos, prizes, games etc...I have finished a CVRC Video to loop on the DVD player BTW.

Hey Ron,
I didn't realize my phone wasn't working! Sure glad I signed on RC this evening or should I say this morning! I was going to post a note on food donations needed for meeting.....I'm gonna need a lot of HELP! if your depending on me.

We asked for name tag information to be sent to my pm box. I have received 10. I know there were more than 10 folks at January's meeting! I believe Ron is tired of beating a "dead horse". Bad expression but you get the point. We need more participation from the group. At the meetings people have lots of suggestions but THE LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH does not help plan or organize a successful meeting.

I used the sign up sheet from January's meeting to create name tags..couldn't read some of your writing! and some didn't give me your RC name...I need it to finish name tag! I also wrote down all names in 1st thread (sign up thread to vote) from that list I am missing some your first names.

The common goal is to make the meetings fun, educational, and interesting for all who attend. We can do it if we ALL work together for the benefit of ALL MEMBERS. It's not just a place to sell your wares and pick up a premium prize. I love my saltwater hobby. I really enjoy the meetings and being with people that enjoy the same hobby. It's time to share the load! BTW I ned food donations! Thanks

I vote phljess to be in charge of demos.

This is more his expertise! He's the teacher and has done most of the demos in the past!

All in favor say I! (This is how I got the job)!

That's what happens, after every meeting we get a flood of great ideas, but for whatever reason we never see them come to light. I understand life gets in the way a lot of the times but I and my family are extremely busy and I manage to get things done and Im sure Brian and Lana are just as busy if not more at times. Phil has never missed one meeting as far as I can recall, and he has demod or talked at all of them.

This is devotion and this is what makes the meetings work. We need more than just the same select few to help out with these shows.

We don't ask much of you and your rewards are many but please stand up and help if you are planning on setting up a table or showing up to buy/win things.
<b>
BTW" I second the motion- Phil is the teacher

Aleesa you have to remember there are a lot of people that attend the meetings aren't RC members.
That's what happens, after every meeting we get a flood of great ideas, but for whatever reason we never see them come to light.
To be fair we ask for ideas and get some good ones. Then nobody comments on what they would like to see so the whole thing fizzles out.
We went from meeting ideas needed that ended on 2/18 with no real input about what people were interested in to meeting plans on 3/1.
I don't know the answer maybe get some ideas then get more input about what interests everybody. We don't tend to follow things though like we should lately.
I don't think it's so much life gets in the way as it is nobody quite knows what to do. stevebeaver asked about "advanced plumbing". If more people showed interest I imagine Dave would be happy to do a demo on it but with only one person thinking it's a good idea there isn't much point in pursuing it. I suggested comparing test kits. That would have tied in nicely with foxesreef's request for a talk about testing our water. I'm not into doing demos but would gladly coordinate something like that. Again though we'd need some interest since members would have to bring their kits and ideally some different salt mixes.
I thought there were other people who also volunteered to do demos in the thread after the last meeting...did they decide not to?
Rod Cobble is the only other one that actually volunteered to do a demo. He hasn't posted in a month and I haven't noticed him online either. Has anyone asked him if he still plans on doing one?

At least we have seen interest in the photo contest I guess that's a start, Im sure it will grow. But we do need to stay focused a bit more and follow through with plans.

After last meeting I designed our poster, Todd and another member printed them out in full color for us, I invited and asked anyone who wanted to pick one up and post it in his or her area to drop by and do so. To date only about 3 were picked up, and I have no idea where they were posted. I was at Fuji's today and noticed no poster on his message board, in fact he asked me for one.

We need a radical restructuring and reorganizing IMO.

We will discuss this at the meeting, I invite everyone to hang around till the end as I want to hear your ideas.

Fuji's is the best! I wonder why he does'nt't post here?

He should be he learned most of what he knows about reef keeping from me. Fuji is one of my oldest reef buddies and to answer your question. He hates the internet so you wont see him on here. I invited him to drop by Sunday after he closes so we will see if he manages to get there or not. Im also hitting him up for some donations.

Now lets get back to solving our common problems, any of you volunteering for those needed positions above?

Or will we have to start assigning tasks?

I can bring several two liters of pop as well as some chips and dip.
Anybody want to give me an idea on how much? I have never been able to stay for an entire meeting and I do not know how many are usually there.

Brian Lana do you need a tank for your demo Or do you have one?

I have the overflow box do you need anything else?

BTW I did not have time to get my wavemaker finished. It needs a new pump, but I will still show it with the old pump and give a brief demo on it.

2). drinks-your choice pop, tea etc. - FoxesReef
(we need a couple of people to divide expense)
3). chips & dip or vegetable & dip - ?????????
4). Cookies - Lana has covered this!
5). Paper Goods- plates,napkins,cups,trash bags - Aleesa
6). Triple fudge Brownies - Ryan

WE NEED A PERSON TO SAY HI!!!COME ON IN! HERE IS YOU NAME TAG or let's get you a name tag and get you signed up for a door prize. This does not mean you are elected to do this every month. This Sunday only! SOMEONE PLEASE volunteer for this!

****************************************************
thank you FoxesReef on the drinks - I believe 6 to 8 liter bottles would cover it. I sure someone else can bring a snack so you do not have to foot all the expense!

We need another table to lenghten our food/beverage area so everything could be set up together (food, drinks, plates,napkins etc.) in one area to lessen congestion in door way.

Also, a LARGE trash can needs set up on the opposite wall of food table. This will help consolidate the trash and make clean up easier after the meeting.

We have a guest book and would appreciate everyone to sign in! We are planning on tracking attendance. All of your suggestions are important! I would like to log your suggestions and we can use them to plan future meetings. The information gathered will allow us to have more productive and organized meetings. We have to have a base line to start with so this Sunday will be the beginning stage of gathering information. Your input will effect the direction on how our meetings will be planned.

So let's hear what demos you want to see. What do you want the next photo contest to be? etc. We need ideas on activities to be added to the meeting. We could make a draft itinerary of meeting to build upon and modify for use every month .

I would like to add an area in our meeting called:
"Show & Tell" to show the gadgets people have purchased that really work well in our hobby or how someone has modified a gadget to make it work better. I love the bucket organizer I showed last meeting. This month I got a new gadget to show you! It is always hit or miss when you buy things on how durable they are or how well they actually work. This would give people an opportunity to show something quickly without doing a full demonstration. Nothing to prepare for! Several folks have said they did not want to do presentations! Thanks for your input!

Any other suggestions or food offerings will GLADLY be accepted

Ron I believe we have a 10 Gal. that Lana is planning on using along with some old sand from a used tank. I have a small MJ pump to use but if you are bringing a pump I might use it along with mine if you don't mind. Just want to show the difference in flow thru the U-tube and how it relates to air build up.
