Sundial Snail!

Frozen Roadkill

New member
Im new to the zoo world, but I already have quit a few (growning frags that is). Today, on my (Gasp!) blue zoos, I found a sundail snail munching(?) away. I put him in a dixie cup and just identified him, and confirmined my suspicions. I found one, are there more? Eggs? What do I do now?

And also, on that same blue zoo rock I have some green zoos. Some are closed and it looks like slimey algae is on them. I had one frag that got this, and the algae turned brown, and now it is dead. Will this kill my green ones? Can I save them? Can I prevent it?

Any help is MUCH appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Do you have some reef dip, or lugols iodine? I would take some tank water and a few drops of lugols and let the zoa's soak in a seperate container for 5 minutes Thats if you see anything strage on your zoa's like brown slime. FW dips rarely pull off sundials. IMO i like to look at the colony/frag and make sure no sundials are on there. They are easily caught. Not too much of a problem unless they are in a huge tank with many colonys, But quarinteen should keep them out if you have a tank that big.

Descent water flow should take care of any slime or algae growing on your zoo's.I also had a sundial infestation,I bought a lunar wrasse and he took care of that problem within days.Any wrasse should do though.

I have a Yellow Coris Wrasse actually. But I have never seen a sundail snail on anything until AFTER I got him. But maybe he is just warming up, Iv only have him for a week so far. Im glad to know that he will do some work.

Do I need to worry about eggs, or should I (and the Coris) just keep an eye out for adult snails?
