So much beauty for you to photograph there!!! I'll bet you're having a blast!!!!

Thanks Jesse.

Last week, April and I had a blast but this week it's work. It's still nice to be here but when you're helping shepherd and train 12 photographers it's not all beer and skittles.

Mahalo!

What, you mean it's not to see the Northern Lights rocking the sky?!?! Who knew .... :) LOL.
I love what's going on in the wave on the left ... and that sky, powerful. Could you eek any more detail out of that foreground on the left (or is that just the limitation of web viewing)? Another awesome image Doug.

I was going to comment on how well he did getting detail in the shadows.

I like the composition, how the longer exposure "creamed out" the ocean, the texture in the rocks compared with the ocean cream and the colors in the sky. There are some similar in shapes in the rocks on the right in the foreground and the clouds in the sky.

For such a wide angle lens, the pic is not all fisheye, which is nice, imho.

Suddenly I'm craving mac nut coffee and a tropical fruit rum drink. Hmm.

Very nice. And I'm suddenly reminded that this is the first year I'm not going to Hawaii in a long time, arg!

Keep in mind, this is the Puna district. There's very little "sand" anywhere. All of those rocks are black lava.
