Has anyone heard of the Sunset Fairy Wrasse before? LFS just got one in and it was incredibly beautiful, so I decided to buy it. He is swimming around the tank getting along with everyone, he was eating brine and mysis at the store and instantly ate flakes in my tank.

I just want to read up on them, but can't find a single thing about them! I've only been able to find this single picture of one. I will try to post pictures later of mine when I get some batteries.

Found out it's a Pylei Fairy Wrasse from Cebu.

Found a pic of how mine looks, amazing fish.

awesome fish, but will kill pretty much any other wrasse you try to add to the tank and if you have other wrasse's also he might beat them down, right food and colors will really pop, btw ive had that fish twice now and ended up giving to a friend because of causing problems with other wrasse's

yes they are a bit aggresive and should be placed with tank mates that are semi aggresive or at least the last fish in the tank .they get very territorial and can be a pain in the ^%* IMO.

Oh crap...hopefully I'm lucky. He is the last fish, but there are two other wrasse; a yellow coris wrasse and a mcCosker's flasher wrasse. It's only been one day so I can't judge, but he is eating and swimming with all of the fish and not showing any signs of aggression what so ever...maybe when he settles in.

you may be okay i really hope so .i have had one and he ended being up a pain in the butttttt ! there are always exceptions and your will be it ,i hope .

The one time I don't do research and be cautious before a purchase...Like a hot girl turning psycho...Now I can only hope for the best. Just wondering what size was yours? Mine seems full grown, he's about 4-4.5"

mine was a terminal male about 4.5" to 5" and very bold to say the least . this will be a learning experience and may very well work out for you but just beware and keep your eyes open with his temperament in mind.anytime you get a fish it should be planned not impulse . i do impulse buy but they are with fish that i know can go with my wrasses or other fish concerned .plus i have alot of tanks so i can usually move the offender to a more suitable tank if necessary .

Seriously, C. Plyes can be very territorial. I had tried to introduce a pair of Hawaiian flame wrasses... both male and female pyles pick on them. :(
