Sunset Monti

Hey guys. Ive been trying to combat this situation for some time now. In the past 5-4 months ago, my Sunset Monti lost the green color on the polyps. The base however is orange and bright, the way it should be. It's also encrusting very fast as well. All other SPS are doing great and growing fast. At first I was getting 0 phosphates and 0 nitrates. So I assumed that my water might be too clean. So I'm slowly raising my phosphates and nitrates to a reasonable level. Has anybody else encountered this situation?

I'll post a pic once the Radions come on.

Sorry for the late pic. I got home late yesterday.

Can you turn just the white channel on and take a picture? The one above looks like a water color drawing. :)

I see greenish polyps .. are you positive this is a sunset monti and not just one that looks like a sunset?

It's a sunset monti. When I got it, it had green polyps. I got home very late last night. I'll take a better one when I get home today. The color of the polyps now are brownish yellowish color. Not green yet.

It morphed then lighting elements flow etc
Looks interesting though almost like your current status better it's got like a purple stripe too
it does look more like a cap growth type structure though

What do you mean by "It Morphed" ?

No it's one that I found online. But the frag that I bought looked exactly like this one.

What you have pictured that is your coral doesn't look like a sunset monti. It's growth is flat like a monti cap, not all bumpy like a monti nodosa (sunset monti). I second the people saying you have a starburst cap, not sunset monti.

Believe me when I say this. It had bright green polyps. The starburst monti doesn't have green polyps. I know what coral I have. It's encrusting that way because I placed it on a flat rock.

Most corals change shape due to water movement. Not too likely it knows what it's sitting on and it's not an encrusting coral.

Thanks. But what would cause the polyps to change from green to orange/yellow ? When I bought it. They were bright green and the base was bright orange. The base never changed color.
