Sunset Montipora losing color

My sunset monti has good polyp extension and has grown well, but it is browning out. I have it in the upper third of my tank below an 8 bulb T5 unit, and high flow. Would different placement help with color, or is it a water chemistry issue? Thanks

I have noticed that mine does better in the lower half of my tank with a 250w MH, 20in below the fixture. Higher up it did not show as much PE.

So the colors are still deep just brown?

Typically when my salinity gets out of whack my montis will brown out.

Old bulbs will also cause this problem.

My green cap monti, chili pepper monti, and jedi mind trick all look great, it is just the sunset that is browning out.

I would lean towards to close to the light but it is baffling that your other monti are doing great. I have a few montis and they are all placed mid in my tank under a 6 bulb t5 fixture, might want to do a close inspection to make sure there on nothing crawling on it or underneath it.

Watch for something snacking on it

When I get lazy and dont have Nori in my work tank my yellow tang nips at the center of a large disc frag on the sand bed

This coral will grow and look just about anywhere in my tanks, it like all kinds of light types and intensity as well as flow

I always blasted mine with light and it never minded at all. I did notice the sunset would start looking bad if it got too much flow. Just a thought.
