Super Grade?

Highside

All of my frags look like they will make it at this point. There is one frag i'm not real happy with. $50 acan super grade. Here is the picture as presented for presale then a pic of what I got. You be the judge. BTW, not one head that isn't partially sawed on. A $45 frag from casey to the left for comparison.

i'd be a little ticked too....$50?!?!?!....maybe it'll turn out real nice, but i would atleast expect 2-3 heads...

im a little ticked from one of my presales as well...but nothing that i'd go crying about

I'm generally not a sucker for a great picture, but these are not the same coral. There are only hints of blue on the coaral I got and the run perpendicular to the direction of the blue circles in the first pic. Purple? None! I cc'd this to the seller, we will see what he has to say.

The blue in the first pic comes from the actinic lighting I guess. I have never saw an aussie that has true blue in it.

BTW this frag was not from me! LOL!

Did you prepay or pay at the swap because i would not have bought it. It might be worth 10-15$. Red and green acans are easy to find. The picture of the colony looks good but the frag is to small. Next time ask for a picture of the actual frag before you reserve it.

foxstang, were you at the swap?.....i saw chad, but not you

He was there....I got a few stuff from him...So far everything is looking good and I've got what he said they would be, very pleased!!! :)

If you missed foxstang, then you missed some sweet looking SPS... :D I spent too much with him... But I'm definately happy with my purchases...

Rev~ Never noticed that blue wasn't in the Aussie color spectrum until you mentioned it... :)

High side I want to clarify something was the frag on the left the one you got from Casey? Not the one you are disappointed with? I am a little slow so I wanted to make sure there are no misunderstandings who you are were talking about. the other thing is did you contact the person that you traded with to see if there is any possibility of misunderstanding?

ya after reading it 5 times I finally figured it out just didn't want anyone thinking the same way I was. Of course I am the slow on of the group.

that is a crappy frag for 50$. It would bother me to that it is chopped up on all sides. Maybe when it begins to grow back out it will look more like the pic but even the pic looked a little photoshopped. I kinds had something similar happen to me with somethin I bought at the swap.

Yeah -- Highside -- I got the same frag as you (super grade) and it looks the same. A bit bolder, but not at all like the pic above.

I hate to fuel the fire, but not only do the colors not look as good or bold (which can happen easy enough under different lighting or with a little photo editing), but the color patterns look way different. The polyps in the nice picture are open for eating which can change the look a little, and the frag is chopped up...but I'd still say they aren't even from the same colony.

The presale thread did say that you'd get 3-4 heads...and I'd assume they were intended to be complete heads. It's difficult to say from the pic, but it doesn't look like it, even adding up all of the halves.

FWIW....I ordered some Sunburst Oranges zoas/palys and they're awesome...much more than expected. Surely this was an oversight.

yep. it's an acan. The super grades are nice. The one I got is more of an A, and DM is right -- it's not the same pattern as the pic...

I've got other super grades that hold thier color great. There is no mistaking an awesome acan. If this had the patterns and colors of the pic above, it would be in the same league -- but the one I got doesn't -- it's much more bland.

I have been buying and cutting alot of acans lately and I agree that is not worth the money!!! If someone says you get 3 - 4 heads the should be full!!! Everyone I have dealt with doesnt charge for half poylps. Now the good news... I aim for the center of the mouth when I frag them because they do grow fast (especially with good feeding) so hang in there and they should heal up and spread out quickly.
