Super Reef Octopus INT1000 overacting!

So I put a SROINT1000 on my 75 gallon reef about a month ago, and it has been doing a great job, except for the fact that a few times now, it has over acted and will fill the collection cup (rather fast I might add) with clean water even when the gate valve is wide open. The first time it happened it wasn't too big of a deal, although I did have tolet it run with the drain plug on the collection cup off for a few days until it cleared up. However, yesterday it was a much bigger deal since it dumped almost a full collection cup of skimmate right back in the tank before I had a chance to empty it.

Does anybody else have this problem as well? If so, how do I fix it?

Thanks!

Make sure you have it in the right water depth, can't remember what is is right now but not much. Make sure you have the water level in skimmer set right also, bubles should star pretty low, around where the cup hooks on to skimmer.

They need to be in 6" of water, max. After that, it is pretty much set it and forget it. If you see you need to adjust the gate valve to raise the level, the venturi input needs cleaning. Just turn off the skimmer, and dip the air line in the water, and plug it back in but don't let it overflow. That will clear any salt creep in the air line. I have to do this on both of mine once a month.

My brother has this skimmer and he had the same problems, run fine and overflow every other day. We fixed water depth and got skimmer set right and runs fine with no overflowing. I took the skimmer from him for a week and messed with it and was ready to throw it at the wall, then found out it was supposed to be in shallower water and the foam needs to start really low in the skimmer. I ended up calling coralvue and they told me water depth just don't remember what it was.

Hows it skimming now. I have been reading up on this skimmer for my 75 gallon mixed reef. Currently i have a nwb 150 that i want to up grade.

Whats the verdict on this skimmer?

It's skimming fine now. As for the verdict on the skimmer, I love it. I would definitely tell anyone looking at it to go for it. The bubble blaster pump is what really sells it, IMO. I will say the only thing, as I'm sure with most in sump skimmers (this is my first in sump model), that you HAVE to have the water level consistent. Other than that, it's a great skimmer.
