Super Skimmer Help.

Alrighty, I just recieved my super skimmer to find it needs assembly. I assembled 99% of it and I'm having trouble on connecting the pump to the intake. The diameter of the 2 are the same so its making this whole process 10x harder. How did everyone else do it? Is there anyway to expand the diameter of the rubber piece?

The skimmer should be connected to the intake by a length of vinyl tubing. You'll want to shorten this length of vinyl tubing by a bit, to make the pump sit no more than a couple inches under the water line (if running HOB). I remember the vinyl tubing being difficult to work with.... i really, really had to jam it on there hard.

After you're done, make sure you do the air valve mod to it. The process is detailed in the "super skimmer modifications" thread in the lighting/hardware forum. That mod saved me from tossing the skimmer out the window.

Right now I'm having trouble with this...(This is a post I made in the hardware forum)

I just got it all set up and stuff. I used boiling water to soften up the rubber a bit. My new question is can I replace the pump with something smaller?? Its so huge that I couldn't even fit the bubble diffuser! Is the bubble diffuser necessary? Right now 'm playing with the controlling the water intake and stuff. Noticed that if you turn the red knob too much it overflows. Any help??

the skimmer is very, very difficult to adjust. Which CSS are you using? If it's the 125 or 220, you're stuck with that pump. There isn't a needlewheel pump out on the market that's smaller than those. Not sure if there's a smaller pump for the 65, however.

There's a HUGE thread called "CSS pics" or something to that effect. It's best to mull through all the pages there (should take you a while). There is a lot of good info on the skimmer.

I tried to use the search tool to find that dam thread but nooo RC is too cheap to let people who don't pay use the search function. I have the 65, If there is another pump I can use I have to find it. The Rio is a huge piece of **** thats the size of my cat.
