well after lots of debate over tanks and what no i have decided to start.

300 gallon main tank

100 gallon sump

on top of the sump im going to add a frag tank some where around 50-70 gallons

lights going with diy cree led fixtures

going with a reeflo return pump

Royal exclusive alpha 300 cone skimmer

up in the air about closed loop or power heads

going to add large 300-450 gallon display tank in the future.

alittle update

drilled closed loop, drain, and return holes in main tank. using 2" bulkheads for the drains and closed loop inlet and 1.5 bulkheads for all returns

the top 2 holes are the return from sump then down one set of holes is a return from the closed loop and the 2 drains then down on the bottom is the inlet for the closed loop and anohter closed loop return.

also drilled holes in sump.

1 - 2" bulkhead for the return pump feed and a 1.5" blukhead for a extra.

Did you just find flat spots in the stock tank to drill for the bulkheads? Do you anticipate problems with leaks?

yes the front and back are flat and thats where i drilled. No i dont anticipate any leaks.
