hey all-
smeared some superglue on the outside of my acrylic tank. ouch!
how do i clean it off, without scratching/fogging the acrylic?

thanks!

Not cool.. I did the same thing a few weeks ago and my wife heard me cussing all the way from the other end of the house. I was afraid of using any chemicals, so decided to use my acrylic scratch removal kit. Think I started with the 6,000 sandpaper and finished with the 12,000.. then polished it. You can't even tell and looks brand new now..

Good luck and hope this helps a little..

This is probably going to be your best bet. Any type of solvents will most likely eat through the acrylic and make it worse.

do you think just using Plastx would do it?(by hand with a mcrofiber towel?)
it is not a lot, just a line about 8-10" long
thanks!

A quality hobby shop will have "UnCure" it is by Bob Smith Industries, it will remove the CA. I am not at all sure if it will etch the acrylic or not though.

Worst case, you would at least be closer to flush with the tank, then you can polish that away.

Bingo!! You beat me to it. CA remover such as UnCure should do the trick! I would definitely test it on an indiscreet location first to make sure it doesn't etch the acrylic as you pointed out. I do however think it should be acrylic safe but you never know. I've even had silicone etch acrylic so it's always good to test a spot to mitigate risks.

I still have half a bottle of Uncure back from my R/C plane n heli days, it's good stuff and was actually the first thing I thought of but chickened out. The spot of CA I had was a thin smear and prob half the size of a dime.. it didn't take long at all to remove by sanding.

If it ever happens again, maybe I'll test the remover out on the back of my sump and see what it does..

If it's not too bad tooth paste will work.
Had a drop fall on the curve of a corner tank once. Wiped quick & had to search for the guys tooth paste. Good thing he was out.

RC Heli days? Do tell. I flew RC Heli's for a number of years and owned and then sold an online and retail RC Heli shop called Zoom's Heli in So. Cal. I'm friends with most of the older pro guys like Todd Bennet, Jason Krause, the Szabo's and Curtis Youngblood. I still have a couple heli's even though I haven't flown in a few years.

Oh wow that's awesome, I haven't heard those names for years. Never met any of them but remember watching their videos and then trying to pull off a few tricks.. most we're unsuccessful and expensive :)
I started out with a cheap dragonfly and was hooked. A JR Venture 30 was my first nitro heli.. then a Venture 50 and Raptor 50. I pretty much retired the nitros after the electrics got popular. Been thru a few Trex 450's, a 500 and 600. Haven't flown them for awhile, but still have the Venture 30, Trex 450 and 500. Too many planes to list..
I also got into FPV for awhile.. still have a TBS Quad and two planes. My longest flight with the Skywalker is 8 miles out and back.. which is nothing for a lot of guys.

I did this same thing last year and used a microfiber cloth and acetone, it worked for me with not ill effects but our tanks might be made from different types of acrylic' so please don't use unless you test on the back of the tank or on the brace.
