Superman monti refuses to grow.

We have had a superman monti in two locations for several years. One frag grew out to a three inch diameter then died off and came back around the edges. The other wont grow off its plug. The color has also fluctuated from brilliant to washed out. Any advice on these 'mood swings'? We have been very successful with a reverse sunset monti.

do you have any kryptonite lying around the house? that could be the source of these swings. J/k
I would dip and see what comes off it. could be swings, pest, coral warfare etc. Nice colonies.

I've just recently started taking care of my husbands tank so I don't know to much. What kind of pests do u think we could have that wouldn't be visible to the eye. We have a nice flower pot that had flat worms about a year ago. We dipped it and its never recovered (its been barely hanging in there for a year). So perhaps there is something else that we cant see. Around the same time our purple people eaters vanished and our purple deaths refuse to take off.

Hard to say, just an idea.

What is the light colored smooth stuff covering a lot of the rocks on the right side of the tank?

That's our unhappy sunset :3 Our protein skimmer was down for a month and he turned white. His polyps are still green and my husband says he will come back. He's lost interest in his aquarium over the past year which is why I've learning about it so that I can take it over.

The last picture is of leathers but it also shows what the sunset monti looked like before it turned white. I'm not really concerned with that though. Just the superman's lack of growth. We have had it for several years. I haven't checked any water parameters but I'll look in to it. I've just recently taken over caring for the tank.
