Superstitions?

After struggling through a couple of crashes and other smaller issues, I've noticed that the vast majority of my problems seem to occur in the month of December. I've heard other hobbyists say that the bulk of their issues tend to occur mostly in the spring. Well, since there's nothing I can do about the time of year, I figure there IS something I can do to lessen any contributing factors I might add to the equation. Therefore, for the past few years, I absolutely refuse to do any 'tinkering' in the tank during the month of Dec. No rearranging of rock work, no addition or removal of frags, just the basic husbandry and, of course, feeding.

Now, I'd think if ANY group of hobbyists would have a bunch of irrational (or otherwise) superstitions, it would have to be the 'sps' guys. So here's your chance to admit them; me, no tinkering in Dec. You?

Playing baseball my whole life made me crazy.

Now that I live in the real world, I stop shaving at the end of every month because I feel like it helps me sell a few more cars. In August, my wife told me I should see what my beard looks like since I'd never had one aside from a few days worth of stubble. Well, in September I sold 33 cars. And now I'm broken. Haven't shaved since except for a trim for thanksgiving.

I have dozens of other ones but none tank related :/

Don't get TOTM - you'll get RTN or bleaching or something....

Correct ..... I got the TOTM at Reef Sanctuary and a month later I had a nutrient crash in the tank !!

A couple of Months ago I was nominated for the tank of the quarter in my local reef club and after thinking it for a few days I said.......NO WAY, and withdraw my nomination. Tank still looking healthy...... :-)

:) love this question and hope to hear from some of the nuts like, Micheal!

I'm not a superstitious person but am subscribed just to observe...:hmm4:

I was asked to have my tank on a world wide SPS data bank and I said NOOO. I believe in that superstition and I'm not taking the chance.

name a fish = death wish
say this is my favourite sps = RTN
get a coral been waiting for a long time for = AEFW or it falls into anenome
dont drink enough beer = tank crash (this seems to be the most important)

:lolspin::lolspin:

I had to laugh at that especially the name a fish cause every time my wife starts to get attached to one and give it some stupid name, within a week it's gone

The more you care about a certain thing in your tank = death eventually.
Put too much effort in, you wonder why you bothered.
From now on it is minimal effort, with maximum enjoyment.

I just believe in hard work..everything else is just your mind trying to find an excuse

Best Regards

I believe in hard work too, but can't help wondering why some people's tanks go downhill after their TOTM article are published.:uhoh3: Perhaps it is just a coincidence...
