Supplements and Zoas?

What are things I should be looking for if my zoas are not thriving like they once did.

I saw where somone said something about Iodine. What else (if anything) will affect zoas more than other softies and LPS's. Both of wich do great in my tank.

Just wondering what if anything specific I should be checking/dosing.

Thanks,

Steve

Good post Steve. I have been wondering the same thing myself. Hopefully, someone out there will have an answer for us.

Im definitely not a Zoanthid master, but my Zoas are really taking off. I only do water changes, kalkwasser on occassion, and on of the two part buffers in emergency situations. No Iodine, no Strontium, etc. I just make sure to keep my Alk between 9-11 and my Ca between 380-420.

Its really strange because some of my zoa's are growing rapidly and others are just barely getting by. My parameters are fine. My most recent addition is a nice colony of fire and ice, did the parasite dip, they looked awesome for a couple weeks. Now they look horrible, double checked for nudi eggs or asterina stars, nothing, so now I'm stumped. Every other group looks great. Hmmmmm

Yup, no sundials either...... Like I was saying in the previous post every other bunch looks great. The greens I got from you are taking off nicely, but the ones on that SPS skeleton just decied to close up. The only other thing I can think of is possibly chemical, but then again I had the one group in the same area and they look fine. I'm stumped

Have the ones that aren't doing so hot previously done well in this setup? My zoas don't do well with MH overall. I noticed thats what your tag shows. They seem to do ok just aren't growing. Under PC's they were very prolific. Just a thought

Hey duncan im haveing the same problems...some colonies are rocking, while are depleating..there in my 20g long with PCS

Yeah I thought that might be it as well, moved them under a overhang so they arent exposed to the MH. Im going to give it a few days.
