Supporting a Orbit 2x40w on a 10g tank

I recently got my light, a 2x40w Orbit, but the supports they supply are too thick for the lip of the tank (10g AGA) and prevent me from opening of the glass lid on the tank. I've thought about getting the dremel out but wanted to see if anyone else solved this without cutting

I want the lid to minimize evaporation, keep the cat out, and the fish in.
