Sponge Removal?

Sponge Removal?

Hey Weasy ; Have you tried pulling them off with tweezers? Air will also kill sponges , maybe you can hook up an air pump and hit them with some fresh air to destoy them. Just direct the flow of air onto the sponges with an airline tubing. Good Luck Weasel!!!

Thanks for the reply Bill!

Very strange thing. I pull one rock out of the water for about 30 seconds or so and it didnt seem to help it could have remained somewhat wet.. Maybe I need to hit it with some air like you said.. I will experiment and post back

Not all sponges are damaged by air. Many come form intertidal zones where they might be exposed to air for hours at a time. The real best way to get rid of them IMO is to just cover them in a little two part epoxy or super glue.

If you want to be adventurous, could try to do a few low doses of lanthanum chloride. Has been effective killing certain species of sponges, not intentionally used for that direct purpose, but worth a shot if all else fails.
