Surge devices, anyone using any?

I'm looking to add more random flow to the tank and was wondering if anyone used any type of surge devices. Also curious about cost, effectiveness, maintenance, pros/cons, etc... Plumbing devices, recirculation pumps, surge buckets, I'm looking for the most simple and most effective for a 220 Gal tank. Currently I am running 1 recirculation pump, 2 Sea Swirls and 2 Lock line returns; This is good for the top of the water column but not enough turbulence in the deep water. I would prefer more of a random flow than another recirculation pump, but I'm open to all ideas on the topic.

what am i supposed to do with a turkey baster? how does this help when I'm at work?

Use it at night just before the lights go out.. I think it helps a great deal. You can really stir things up and get all the detritus into suspension so it can be removed by Filter, overflow, protein skimmer or whatever...
