sushi

Ichiban. I have thoroughly enjoyed every meal I have had at their Cranberry location and now that they opened up a second one in Robinson Town Center. I have never eaten at Nakama, though.

Ichiban. Best sushi based on:

- consistancy
- quality of fish
- service from the sushi bar

One of the three owners IS a sushi chef, and he trained all their current sushi chefs himself. Alan is the chef in Cranberry, nice guy and a great chef. The Robinson location is just as good.

Honorable mention to Tomo on McNight Road, and to China Palace in Wexford, though I haven't been to CP in a good long while. As for citi bars, I always enjoyed Little Tokyo in Mt Lebanon.

Hope that helps.

By no means the best, but the closest to the Macna location is Taipei Tokyo, which is within walking distance.

Hi all,

Sushi Kim in the strip district is also top-notch with the added bonus of pretty good Korean food. Sushi with a side of Kimchee rocks.

IMHO, Nakama is not that great. I was only there once and the sushi was good, but the place is very big and noisy with a very trendy atmosphere and prices to match. If you like a more night club type atmosphere and $10 martinis, you'll love it. I am more into having a beer and chatting with the chef.

My two favorites are definitely Ichiban and Sushi Kim.

There is a place in the strip district (market type area) called Penn Ave Fish Company (2208 Penn Ave). I have not eaten there myself, but I hear it is good. I have been in the store and everything looks very fresh. They are like a fancier, mini Wholey's fish market.

I am not sure that any have BYOB. If they do it is likely limited to wine + a corkage fee. I suppose one of the other sushi regulars would be able to tell you.
