Swallowtail angel & clams

Anyone have any bad experiences with this combo? I am considering pulling the trigger on a clam from pacific east aquaculture. I have a pair of swallowtails in my 150. I currently have a little Deresa in there that no one pays attention to. Will putting a 5 inch maxima in there be any more temptation to a Swallowtail angel? These guys have no interest in my LPS or softies....

Thanks Steve.

I recently had to get rid of a Lamarcks Angel because he did not observe the code of conduct regarding Genicanthus & LPS. Hopefully I will have better luck with the Swallowtail & maxima :)

Genicanthus angels are mostly plancktivores and will ignore corals and clams.

Like I mentioned, I just had a beautiful Lamarck Male who started going to town on my LPS. I am pretty sure he was just picking whatever slime he could off of them but there is no doubt in my mind he would have ended up killing them as they had all receded pretty badly. I still think it's one of those cases where YMMV.

The swallowtail hasn't showed interest in my coral so I think the maxima is a safe gamble.

I think you'll be fine. A great fish genus in my opinion. Good luck with the new additions!

I am mind boggled. Of the various genicanthus I have kept, none have shown any interest in corals or clams. Of course the one I really want, I cannot afford even if it were available.

If someone wants to really spend the time searching this forum, they can check for sure, but, IIRC, lamarks have come up a few times as being coral munchers, even bellus once or twice.
