Swallowtail angels

Is anybody keeping these in their sps reef tanks? If so what's their temperment towards tangs and anthias?

have 2 swallowtails,7 anthais,and 3 tangs.plus a few others in my 265 gal. Getting along just fine

We just got a Genicanthus melanospilos in at petco and I thought of either getting it or waiting for my mimic tang.

My blackspots never bothered anthias, wrasses, tangs.

I have a Genicanthus Melanospilos with a RS regal and lamarck plus a few tangs and wrasses in a 136 gallon tank.No problems.

I would not call my geni. aggressive, but some chasing happens. no worries with SPS. Clams and LPS might get nipped, but its uncommon

Is it safe to day all the swallowtails are reef safe and a lot better than most centropyge?

Yes...it is a known fact they are planktonic feeders that feed from the water column. There mouths are too small to eat other pray. They are reef safe as where most all centropyge species ARE NOT! HTH

That said, you can definitely find the occasional post on here about someone's geni eating coral. But it's not very common. I think Lamarcks are the worst, from what I've gathered...

Funny I was actually thinking of getting one of those aswell. How many swallowtails could I have in one tank. I had planned on doin male/female pairs.

My future stocking list consists of a chocolate mimic tang, some kind of anthia, maybe a kole, lavender, yellow, or scopas tang I can do without if I have to, swallowtail angel of some kind, some gobies, green chromis, yellow coris wrasse. I already have 1 Picasso clown, scooter blenny, and an unarmed perchlet (geometric hawk).

We just got a male Lamarck several weeks ago for our 125. The only problem we had was him getting harrassed by our clarki clown. Everything has subsided and he gets along with everyone just fine and eats like a pig. Truly 100% reef safe. You have my vote for one.

I have been taking a gander at the lemarks and watenbi angels. As well as the zebra swallowtail. What do you guys think of my stock list. I figure some will object to the 2 tangs in ky tank. But I will upgrade or trade within my reef club.

You should be ok with the mimic and yellow... the reason i'm picking the yellow is the color difference of the two. I have a black and a adult chevron both very dark . if i didn't have the yellow it would look a bit drab. . the zebra swallowtail is a male. the female looks totally different.

I picked these 2 up today. From what I was told they are about as reef safe as they come.
