SWAM and LFS issues

I'm upset about being a what you call a non- member. I dont pay the membership fee because I never go to the meetings. I allways work on saturdays and can not get a saturday off. If I dont work I dont have money. I cant see paying to sponcer meetings when I dont go to them. I think there are alot of people like me here. Last I knew this website was free, the group doesnt have to pay for it, correct me if I am wrong

As far as non-members causing trouble, thats just bull. Members are very opinated too. Some people contribute, some dont, thats just how a group is.

Denise, your not the perfect giving person you make yourself out to be. I trusted you and you screwed me over big time, you know what I mean. Now I will probably be kicked off the group, LOL.

Maybe you should limit this group to members ony, if membership is so important. I like this board alot. I get alot out of it but to be honest there are other boards I check out too. I like talkng to to other reefers in the state

The 10% discount is not a big deal, reefers are a rare breed who seek out places. I have never and would never ask for a swam discount. I have never gone to a place that offers a discount for just that reason. I have driven all over maine, new hampshire, mass to check out stores. Reefers love to look and find things. Reefing is very expensive, if you want to get my attention with a discount, make it 30% or more, That might get me to buy someting. As far as going to your store I go anyway. I dont think any of the stores should offer a discount. I dont think it is right to presure stores into offering a discount or giving swam things. If they offer its one thing but dont bug them and guilt them into giving. Bottom line is I think most of us would go anyway. Maine doesnt have that many salt water stores. Am I going to favor one over the other because they gave swam something, no way. For me its about price, good stock, nice people, good service.

Someone please close this thread.

Wow, just came back to this... I second it... If they can't just delete the thread, imo. Of course, even neg publicity is going to be good publicity because I don't think we will ever have a member who doesn't know the GL is in Gardiner now...

LOL

Hmm reminds of that whole I pay taxes, thus I vote thing.

I do feel the need to defend Denise- this is yet another thing that should be private. I'm embarrased for him that it actually made it past the point he hit submit.

IMO, if in your post you have the thought you might be banned for what you are typing... well, that's a pretty good red flag imo not to hit submit... Apparently, no one is perfect, even this particular guy that posted this- perfect people wouldn't make ugly comments like that one for all to see, imo.

And THAT is a group I definately am a paying, card carrying member of, as well as this one.

<grin>

I would not of said anything but Denise said non-members were causing the trouble, thats not fair either. Funny thing, members verces non-members. Seems like members are so much better than non-members.

As far as the Denise thing. I dont think there is anything wrong with warning people not to trust her, I wish I had not of. I didnt go into detail either, keep that in mind.

The LFS store question is one that every club I been in has an issue with. It is not that important.
Although The discussion did remind me of a song I learned when
I was 8. I also learned a Roger Miller song that was #1 that year. I hope we get a web site going so we can discuss other important stuff. The lounge forum on BRS is a great feature.

"Denise, Can I have a glass of wine? Heck with a glass, can I have a bottle? LOL"

Bottle Of Wine
Chorus:
Bottle of wine, fruit of the vine,
when you gonna let me get sober.
Let me alone. Let me go home.
Let me go back and start over.

Well, I've rambled around this dirty old town
singing for nickels and dimes.
Times getting' rough. I can't get enough
to buy me a little bottle of wine.

Trailer for sale or rent
Rooms to let...fifty cents.
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but..two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

Third boxcar, midnight train
Destination...Bangor, Maine.
Old worn out clothes and shoes,
I don't pay no union dues,
I smoke old stogies I have found
Short, but not too big around
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

I know every engineer on every train
All of their children, and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked
When no one's around.

I sing,
Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

this thread is like a train wreck.... you can't help but look!

that being said....I'll add my two cents...I'm a semi interested observer. I moved back here from out of state. I was a member of one of the largest reef clubs in the country. I've said this before and I'll continue to say it.. When I get into the industry side of this hobby of mine. MY last day on the public boards without saying in bold that I work in the industry will be the month before i open my business.
There is a permanent tension between the person who wants to make money from our hobby and the person(hobbiest) who wants to get the absolute most for the absolute cheapest price.

As such I have always suggested that those who make a living or even a decent second income from this hobby need to distance themselves from the public forums and groups. it is in the best interest of all. Please taket his advice and think about what was said...
