Swapping tanks

OK, with my stand close to finishing, if all gos as planned I will be swapping my 75 DT for the 120 DT this weekend. So what is the best way to sift through the sand to get as many of the snails and good creatures as possible for transfer into the new DT...

Pasta strainer over a 5g bucket, once you've moved all livestock to the new tank.

Get the snails out and then toss the sand in the garbage.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Already have new sand, might use a few cups of the old stuff to help seed the new.
