SWC200 Help!

I just pick this up used and can't tell if this has a bad pump or what. Its got the PSK2500. It rattles a little thn I have to shake it to get it to start. But it doesn't create enough turbulence to skim. I tried different depths and unhook the air hose and tried restricting/opening it doesn't help. I can make the water inside go higher or lower so that part works. New pump?

Is that just in regular tap water? Cause if it is it's not going to work right. Needs to be in saltwater....

Also that pump is known to be stubborn on start up. Don't worry, the trick is to blow into the air intake if it acts up (it's common for people to do this on start up...I dare say it's "normal")

Does it have the mesh impeller or nw

It's red that's all I know. Put it back in sump working great now.
