I am new to Clam keeping so I have a few questions. First, at the base of the clam where it generates its bysal threads, it seems to be sliming quite a bit after I put it in the tank. It is already attaching so I am assuming it is alright. Any thoughts?
It may take a day or two for the threads to attach I got a nice blue one this past weekend and he is already firmly attached to the rockwork. He looks great and he will be fine..By the way was that one tank raised or imported. I got a tank raised that was only $5 more than the other clams and I think the colors are much better on the tank raised clams. i will post a pic of mine when i get a chance.

I used a half of a clam shell and buried it a little under the sand. Then I olaced the clam on top of this and in no time it attached itself to the shell.
